If you wish to start a Data Studio/Looker Studio report from scratch (versus using a Shape report template), you can do it in one of three ways:
Option 1 - Connect BigQuery to Data Studio/Looker Studio
This is optimal if you want to create custom data views and/or query-specific data within your Data Warehouse data sets.
Using this option will open your data set in Google Explorer. Click "Save" and "Share +" to add the report to a new Data Studio/Looker Studio Report.
Option 2 - Connect Shape's ADI to Data Studio/Looker Studio
This is optimal when you want to pull all the data fields from Shape Data Warehouse table or view into Data Studio/Looker Studio.
Using this option will open your data set in Google Explorer. Click "Save" and "Share +" to add the report to a new Data Studio/Looker Studio Report.
Option 3 - Connect BigQuery as a Data Source in Data Studio/Looker Studio
Similar to option 2, this is best when you want to pull all data fields from a Shape Data Warehouse view/table.
Using this option, you'll be shown a list of metrics/dimensions available in your selected BigQuery table/view, their types (ex: currency, number, percentage), and their aggregation methods. Select “Create Report" to generate a blank Data Studio/Looker Studio report.
