Customers cannot take actions on Accounts/Campaigns from Data Sources
In order for a Shape user to take actions on accounts and campaigns within Shape, or for automation to do the same, Shape must have certain permissions levels for the ad accounts that have been synced.
For example, in order for Shape's AutoPilot automation to make changes to ad campaign statuses in an account, the email/data source that is being used to sync that account to Shape must have the correct permissions levels. Those levels do vary by platform but are found below:
Necessary Ad Account Permission Levels:
-
- Google (incl. Youtube) - "Admin" or "Standard”
- Meta (fka Facebook) - "Admin” or “Advertiser”
- Microsoft Advertising (fka Bing) - "Advertiser Campaign Manager,” “Super Admin,” or “Standard User”
-
LinkedIn - "Account Manager” or “Campaign Manager”
-
Twitter - "Account Administrator” or “Ad Manager”
-
Pinterest - “Admin,” “Analyst,” or “Campaign”
-
TikTok - “Admin” or “Standard”
Checking which Data Source your Account is Linked From:
- In Shape, click into the budget you are analyzing
- Click the "Add & Remove Campaigns" button near the top of the screen.
- In the "Add & Remove Campaigns" screen, you will see the name of all the accounts that are tied to a budget in Shape.
- Once you see the Data Source email or user name associated with the ad account in Shape, navigate to the appropriate ad platform
- From there, ensure your email/username has the permissions level needed to manage campaigns in Shape!
- If not, request your client upgrade your permissions
NOTE: Regardless of permissions levels, the Google Ads/Youtube Ads API does not allow Shape to change the campaign status of Youtube Ads. This means AutoPilot will not work for Youtube campaigns. CruiseControl does work, however!
