Decision Grids are found throughout the Shape platform to give Shape users the key performance and budget information they need to optimize their campaigns. Unlike Client Cards, which present budget information in a visual progress bar, the Decision Grid is a table view of metrics, statuses, and attributes of Budgets and Campaigns.
In total, the Decision Grids throughout the platform display over 30 unique performance metrics/attributes across all of our supported ad network integrations/data sources. A Decision Grid can be found on the main Dashboard, the Client View, the Budget View, and the Campaign View.
Decision Grids allow you to sort, remove, and add columns to create custom views containing the data that matters most to you and your team. From the Decision Grids, you can take action by making edits to Budgets, Statuses, and Bids or download past/current metrics into Excel or CSV for reporting.
Dashboard Decision Grid
The Decision Grid on the Dashboard is the most prominent Decision Grid you'll find on the platform. When unfiltered, the Dashboard Decision Grid displays performance metrics and statuses for all of your Clients and/or their Budgets.
The Dashboard Decision Grid has three tabs: Clients, Budgets, and Campaigns. The Clients tab rolls up all Budget data for a Client. By clicking on your Client name, you can quickly access each of your Client's Budgets via the Client View.
If you toggle to the Budget tab, you'll note that you can now see all of the Budgets you've created under each Client and their Budget amount, spend, trend, status, and performance metrics. This view is extremely helpful in finding specific Budgets that are not meeting your performance and spend goals. From the Dashboard Decision Grid, you can click on any Budget or Client to analyze your results further and make optimizations.
Finally, the Campaigns tab shows each campaign associated with each Client and Budget you've created. Performance data such as clicks, impressions, cost, conversions, conversion rate, and more can be viewed on a campaign-by-campaign basis.
Client View Decision Grid
If you click into a Client, you'll be directed to the Client View. The Client View is a central view for each of your Clients where you can analyze performance and make changes. Included on this page is an additional Decision Grid.
The Client View Decision Grid differs from the Dashboard Decision Grid because all Budgets, campaigns, and performance metrics on this Decision Grid are specific to your selected Client.
The Client View Decision Grid provides around 20 performance metrics, statuses, and attributes for each Budget or Campaign. Similar to the Dashboard Decision Grid, the Client View Decision Grid has two tabs that you can view performance by Budget or Campaign.
If you click into the Budget tab you'll be provided a view into how each Budget is performing along with any enabled features (such as AutoPilot, CruiseControl, SmartSync, or RollOver).
You also have access to the Campaign tab. The Campaign tab displays the Budgets each campaign is assigned to and similar performance metrics found in the Budget tab.
Budget View Decision Grid
Clicking on a Budget from the Client View Decision Grid will lead you to the Budget View Decision Grid. Similar to the Client View, the Budget View is a central view for all of the campaigns under a Budget.
Similar to other Decision Grids, the Budget View Decision Grid provides around 20 performance metrics, statuses, and attributes for each campaign under a Budget. From the Budget View Decision Grid, you can make several optimizations to your campaigns if you find they're not hitting your target metrics. Using the Budget View Decision Grid, you can activate or deactivate campaigns, edit daily budgets, and change keyword bids.
This Decision Grid is unique because it allows you to dive into performance by campaign, ad group/ad set, ad, and keyword. Clicking into each of these tabs gives you a more segmented view of your performance for various key elements of your campaigns.
Custom Values
If you've enabled custom values at the Client or Budget level, these values can be displayed in the main Decision Grid, or the Decision Grids on the Client or Budget views. To do so, click the eye icon and select the custom value columns you have created. You can quickly edit custom values in the decision grid as well. Custom values are not available on the campaign level.
Campaign View Decision Grid
Finally, if you click into a specific campaign from either the Client or Budget Decision Grid, you will find the Campaign View Decision Grid. The Campaign Decision Grid displays data specific to your chosen campaign.
The Campaign View Decision Grid also provides around 20 performance metrics, statuses, and attributes for each campaign under a Budget. You'll find tabs for ad group/ad set, ad, and keyword data. Clicking into each of these tabs provides you with a more segmented view of your performance for various key elements of your campaigns.
Past/Archived Data
The Decision Grids don't just allow you to filter and sort your performance information across Clients, Budgets, campaigns, ad groups/ad sets, ads, and keywords. One of the major benefits of the Decision Grid is that you can download the Decision Grid into Excel or CSV to populate reports.
With traditional reporting, you may spend hours combining data from multiple advertising platforms into a single document before you can begin analyzing the data. Shape Decision Grids eliminate that work.
Every Decision Grid in Shape will allow the user to select a custom date range to view their metrics on. In order to access this historical data, click the "Current Cycle" button found above the Decision Grid and the form will prompt you for a start date and an end date. Please note that newly created budgets will start with only one cycle's worth of historical data. Going forward, Shape will store the previous day's spend for every campaign in a budget.
Archive FAQ
1) What happens if I remove a campaign from a budget?
If a campaign is accidentally added to a budget, and subsequently removed, the spend of that campaign should not be included in the archives. To prevent this issue, when a campaign is removed from a budget, all spend from that campaign will be removed from the budget's current cycle. Historical data for the removed campaign will remain for dates in the budget's previous cycles.
2) What happens if I delete a budget?
When a budget is deleted, spend for the current cycle will be excluded from all historical reports. Historical data for previous (completed) cycles will still be available in the archives.
3) What happens if I delete a client?
When a client is deleted, all spend for all budgets' current cycles will be deleted (as if each budget had been individually deleted). Historical data for the client will remain.
4) How up-to-date is the spend data in archives?
Archive data may lag up to 1 day behind.
5) What happens if I add a campaign to a budget?
When a campaign is added to a budget historical data will be collected only for the budget's current cycle. For example, if today is November 15th and the budget's current cycle started on November 1st, historical data will only be collected for days after November 1st.
Decision Grid Functionality
Shape aims to make our platform as intuitive as possible. However, given the breadth of performance metrics, attributes, status settings, and more on the Decision Grid, it is important that Shape users understand what the various elements and tools in the Decision Grids are and/or mean.
